Member of the MB Executive Bureau Dr. Mohamed Morsi affirmed that the MB have always supported resistance emphasizing the necessity of standing side by side with resistance and providing it with all forms of support.

In response to the question he was asked on Al-Jazeera TV program “Live With” concerning the MB’s stance towards the Hezbollah organization, Morsi said, “if the purpose is to tamper with Egypt’s name and stir minorities instead of uniting against Zionists, then we are against that.”

Denying media rumors about MB’s changing their stance on this issue, Morsi affirmed that “the MB are against individual acts and acts which harm national security of a country, and do not approve of  any form of intervention in others’ affairs in the absence of coordination between the two sides.”

“Hezbollah, in its current state and resistance of Zionists and the balance it created in the region, is not a state.  But Egypt is, hence relations must be between states,” Morsi added explaining that Egypt is a big country with capabilities and therefore “such minor acts shouldn’t distract us from supporting Palestine because it is Egypt’s duty, as a people and government.”

Morsi further stressed the necessity of being concerned with unifying the nation’s will instead rather than with acts that promote further tension and division within the nation.

Morsi also pointed out that the Joint Arab Defense agreement affirms that if Palestine is at war with Zionists, then Egypt must be at war with Zionists too.

In his response to the question about the increasing tension between the MB and the regime because of the Hezbollah issue, Morsi said, “It is not in Egypt’s interest for the nation to be tensioned as tensioned atmospheres weaken both the ruler and the ruled.  Unfortunately, though, the atmosphere has already been tensioned for a long time and has no capacity for such issues to be raised.”

Concerning the MB’s position regarding the next elections, Morsi said, “We announced repeatedly that general elections whether presidential, parliamentary, or municipal must be carried out on the basis of citizens’ freedom of choice and away from the regime’s oppression of the people.”

“What concerns the MB is the nation’s well-fare and will, for the nation is the source of power, and whosoever seeks any other path there is no way we can acknowledge him, whoever he may be,” Morsi added further stressing, “we don’t want power that is in the interest of individuals, but power that is in the interest of the whole nation.”
