Swedish journalist, Donald Bostrom, said that Israel started the illegal harvesting of organs from Palestinian victims as early as 1960, with a marked increase in this practice during the first Palestinian intifada.

Bostrom was speaking at an event organised, on Wednesday, by the the National Federation of Algerian Journalists in the capital Algiers.

He also said that the organ harvesting was not limited to Palestinian victims, but included those of other nationalities who were killed in Palestine.

He pointed out that the investigative report he published in August in Aftonbladet was based on testimonies of a UN group in Palestine about "the ugly treatment meted to the corpses of Palestinians."

He confirmed that he received death threats by telephone and e-mail after his article in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet about the IOF practice.
